Ant and Dec have revealed they got told off by Prince Charles

The Geordie duo visited Buckingham Palace to collect their OBEs in January

Presenters Ant and Dec have revealed that Prince Charles gave them a royal dressing down for too much boozing on their recent trip to Scotland.

The pair were on their best behaviour when they visited Buckingham Palace to receive their OBEs earlier this year.

But while filming their ITV documentary When Ant & Dec Met The Prince – as in Prince Charles – the pair raided the mini-bar in their hotel.

And it didn’t go unnoticed!

Speaking to journalist Dan Wootton, Ant revealed how Prince Charles gave them a dressing down.

“He said to us, ‘Have you got all of the documentary?’ And I said yes, I particularly liked staying in Scotland and the room service,” smiled Ant.

“He said, ‘Oh yes, I bet you did’, because we had a few too many wines. But he was lovely.”

The comedy duo bagged their OBEs for their Services to Broadcasting and Entertainment.

Ant added: “We went to the Palace then we went for a lovely posh lunch.

Both our mams were there and our family, close friends and management who have helped us through the years.

“It was a really nice, civilised celebration.”

The Saturday Night Takeaway hosts recently revealed that they had their eye on co-presenter Scarlett Moffatt since her Gogglebox days.

During an interview with ITV’s Lorraine on Friday morning, the TV personalities revealed how they first clapped eyes on Scarlett and were desperate for her to star on I’m A Celebrity.

Considering Scarlett then went on to win the show, we may have to thank Ant and Dec for the 26-year-old’s newfound stardom.

Dec explained: “We saw her on Gogglebox and were like, ‘We’ve got to get her in the jungle’, first of all, and then said, ‘If she does well in the jungle, we’ve got to get her on Saturday Night Takeaway.”

The pair couldn’t compliment the star anymore after saying she was a brilliant addition to Saturday Night Takeaway.

The Gogglebox star revealed how honoured she is to work alongside her childhood heroes.

She said: “It’s like a dream come true – working with Ant and Dec is unbelievable.

“They are my absolute heroes.”

Aww, we just love her!
