TOWIE cast reportedly facing ‘biggest shake-up ever’

There's always drama in Essex!

There may be some worried faces among the TOWIE cast this week amid reports the show’s getting a HUGE shake-up.

According to The Sun, producers are mulling over radical changes to the programme that could see some of the current stars given the boot.

Ouch.

An insider has alleged: “Producers want to reward the cast who make the show great, and get rid of the ones who don’t.”

Now, this is all speculation as a rep for TOWIE declined to comment, but according to the source, the stars who are definitely safe include Gemma Collins, Chloe Sims and James ‘Lockie’ Lock.

Apparently it’s because they’re all pretty open on camera about their lives.

The ones at risk are allegedly those stars who don’t reveal all, preferring to keep their life away from the cameras separate to what is filmed. A total no-no in reality TV, right?

“Bosses want to take TOWIE back to its roots,” said the source.

“The show has always been strict about only showing what’s really going on in the cast’s lives, and if the cast aren’t willing to have that on camera, they could face being booted off.”

You’ve been warned!

TOWIE wrapped its 21st series last month after welcoming three newcomers to the fold – Maddie Hooper, Taylor Barnett and Ruby Lacey.

We also saw the return of former castmates Lauren Pope, Mario Falcone and Danielle Armstrong, as well as original star James ‘Arg’ Argent’s long-awaited comeback.

It’s been seven whole years since The Only Way Is Essex first began, making household names of Mark Wright, Lauren Goodger, Amy Childs and Sam Faiers, to name a few.

If the show does want to return to its roots, let’s hope they can persuade some of the originals back!

It wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility for Lauren Goodger to pop in again, given she returned for the Christmas special in 2015 and again last year.

Amy, meanwhile, has said in the past she’d be open to a TOWIE comeback if the rest of the originals joined her.

Sam, however, may be a bit too busy these days juggling son Paul, two, and her newborn, as-yet-named daughter, not to mention a new series of her ITVBe reality show The Mummy Diaries.

Sadly we can’t see Mark popping up in Essex anytime soon, given he’s now over in LA working as a TV presenter and rubbing shoulders with Kim Kardashian!

We can dream though, right?
