Montana Brown slammed for calling Love Island’s Anton “ugly” after preaching about kindness

She has been urging others to consider people's mental health

Former Love Island star Montana Brown has been criticised for calling current contestant Anton Danyluk “ugly”.

Fans have pointed out that Montana has been encouraging people to be more considerate about others’ mental health following the tragic death of her friend Mike Thalassitis, who took his own life in March.

At his funeral in April, Montana – who appeared on the reality show in 2017 – told people to be “kinder, nicer and more genuine”.

However, during an interview with Heat magazine, Montana gave her opinion on Anton alongside fellow former islander Jack Fowler.

She was asked who she would couple up with if she were in the villa this year and she chose Tommy Fury.

As it was pointed out that Anton was still trying to find love, Montana said: “I find him so annoying. He’s ugly. I’m sorry, he is so overly preened it’s not manly at all.

“Stop plucking your eyebrows, stop getting your [bleep] waxed, like stop doing all this stuff.”

Fans took to Twitter to slam Montana and branded her a “hypocrite”.

One person said: “Confused on how Montana Brown has called Anton ugly when she constantly makes tweets/comments on how you should be nicer to people due to their mental health. What a hypocrite.”

Another wrote: “Oh my days, Montana is the biggest hypocrite! How can she go on about mental health and being kind to one another after Mike’s death & then go on to call Anton ugly!

“She should know first hand how horrible people can be about other appearances online.”

A third tweeted: “Montana Brown, up on her high horse preaching about being kinder to others and what not but it’s OK for her to say that Anton is ugly in an interview? Such a hypocrite.”

However, one fan agreed with Montana.

One person said: “I don’t understand why @MontanaRoseB is getting slammed for speaking truth? Anton IS annoying, and he IS too overly preened.

“Oh, and he isn’t the top dog like he seems to think he is or was. Fully agree with Montana.”

It comes after Montana urged others to be kinder after Mike passed away.

Following his funeral, Montana wrote on Instagram: “I keep thinking how we move through things so quickly these days, I mean life is so fast paced and people’s capacities to absorb something new often becomes maxed out.

“But the whole nation was shocked by this, and this isn’t something you should forget. So I’m looking at everyone here, right, and asking you to change yourself, change how you live your life, change how you love your loved ones and also change how you treat strangers.

“I can see a lot of reality faces in the room, please do not let this pass you by. It’s so hard, the rejection, the competitiveness, the need to constantly look like you’re okay on social media.

“So let’s learn from this, we’re all in the same boat, we all have the same stresses.”
