Maura Higgins cancels paid appearance due to ‘illness’ but goes drinking with sister

Was Maura playing hooky?

Love Island star Maura Higgins reportedly pulled out of a paid club appearance in Birmingham due to ‘illness’ – only to then go to a night club in London with her sister.

The Irish beauty, 28, was apparently set to host a night at Players in Birmingham, where hands were going for a whopping £175.

But a source has revealed that Maura had her management inform the club that she was too ill to host the night – only for fans to spot her out in London enjoying steak and cocktails with her sister instead.

The source told The Sun that Maura didn’t do much to hide her London shenanigans, as she was regularly updating her two million plus Instagram followers on her London night out on her Instagram stories.

“She was booked to do a personal appearance and lots of people bought tickets on the basis that she was showing up,” the source said.

“There were a lot of unhappy fans. It’s fair enough for someone to cancel if they really are unwell.

“However, it’s a totally different matter if they’re out partying.

“A lot of people who had tickets saw from her Instagram Story that she was out having fun in London.”

Her stories showed her in a cab ride, enjoying steaks and cocktails at swanky steakhouse STK and finally having more cocktails at the famous nightclub Mahiki.

And to make things even more awkward, she even posted a pic of herself at STK and then at Mahiki.

She seemed far from unwell in the pics, and even tagged one with the caption: “The happiest of hours.”

Maura has directly addressed her actions and apologised to her fans on her Instagram stories.

She claimed to have not had any time off since leaving the villa and needed some ‘social time’

“I am so sorry that I didn’t make it. To be honest I am completely burned out. I’ve not had a day off since leaving the villa,” she said.

“And I’ve not had any social time or anything. So I need to take a few days off and just kind of sort my head out.”

Entertainment Daily has contacted Maura’s representatives for comment.
