Love Island’s Anton was hospitalised after becoming dehydrated in villa

He missed an episode of the show earlier this month

Love Island’s Anton Danyluk was hospitalised after he became dehydrated.

The Scottish gym owner – who was dumped from the ITV2 show alongside Belle Hassan last night (28.07.19) – has opened up about the mystery illness that made him leave the villa for 24 hours earlier in the series, revealing he suffered from dehydration while working out in the gym.

He told The Sun Online: “I had a bit of a fever and I went to see the medic, and basically they just wanted to send me to hospital to double check everything.

“It turned out I was a little bit dehydrated. I was drinking loads of water, but I must stress that ITV checked you are drinking enough every single day, they check you once and then again at dinner time.

“The problem was I was training in the heat, and I was drinking a lot of coffee, so it was just overnight they had to re-hydrate me and put a drip in me.”

Anton was missing from the July 17 episode as he received treatment, but then returned to the villa and admitted his time away made him realise how much he missed his fellow Islanders.

He said his hospital stint gave him “time to miss everyone in that period of time”.

Anton said he “felt like part of the furniture” in the villa and as soon as he left, it “felt weird and I was just dying to get back”.

Anton was disappointed at being dumped from the villa, because, as one of the original Islanders, he was keen to see the show out until the end.

He said he’s now a “changed man in terms of I would never cheat” and he’s looking forward to seeing where he and Belle’s relationship goes.

Last week, Anton and Belle found themselves in the bottom three alongside Ovie Soko and India Reynolds and Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard after Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury voted them the least compatible couple.

Last night, they left the villa after a public vote.

Alongside Anton, Belle said: “It’s been, thanks to you, an amazing experience. I came here, I got what I wanted.”

Anton added: “My Love Island experience started off slow but ended really fast. It was a great experience, the best experience of my life.

“And to walk out with someone on my arm is just unbelievable. It’s always going to be a hard one, there’s so many strong couples in there at this stage and I can’t complain at all.

“I just wish everyone in the final the best.”

The Love Island final airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
