Love Island branded “cruel” for making Amy watch Curtis footage

The star returned to the studio days after quitting the reality show

Amy Hart quit Love Island last week after splitting from her half-boyfriend, Curtis Pritchard.

But she was forced to come face-to-face with her broken heart on Sunday night during an episode of Love Island: Aftersun.

The reality star was being interviewed by presenter Caroline Flack, who made her watch the moment Curtis tried to chat up new islander, Jourdan Riane – a moment that led to him dumping Amy back in the villa. And viewers blasted the show for upsetting her, calling the whole thing “cruel”.

The conversation started off well, with Caroline complimenting Amy’s new hair and talking about how she initially got on with Curtis.

Amy admitted she was doing OK, saying: “I feel so much better being out here, being able to heal.”

But then Caroline announced they were going to show her the footage from Casa Amor, as the studio audience booed.

Amy looked sad throughout the clip and afterwards admitted it had hit her hard, saying: “My heart’s like that [mimes hammering]. The thing is, I’ve been in such a good place this week and stuff like that throws me back a few paces.”

Adding to the awkward was the fact that Jourdan was literally on set with Amy, having done her own interview beforehand. AND Curtis’ brother, Strictly Come Dancing star, AJ was in the audience.

Fans watching at home were upset with Amy’s treatment, scolding producers for making her suffer unnecessarily.

One wrote: “@LoveIsland why [are] you showing Amy this edited clip of Curtis??? Whether she’s been warned or not it’s cruel [bleep]. No point in providing therapy/aftercare etc if you aren’t going to follow it up in a caring manner.”

Another said: “Why would you show her that clip? She was clearly upset, and even said afterwards that seeing it had set her ‘back a few paces’. Don’t say you care about mental health ever again.”

A third tweeted: “Y’all are [bleeped] up for showing Amy that clip of Curtis and Jourdan.”

Another complained: “Bit [bleep] of you to show her the video of Curtis with Jourdan seconds after she says she’s trying to move on from it 🙃 #loveisland #loveislandaftersun.”

Others, though, chose to focus on how great the blonde star looked, showing off her new hair cut, with one viewer commenting: “So gorgeous omg.”

Another gushed: “Amy was definitely right to leave that villa. Sis looks better than ever right now.”

A third added: “She looks GOOD.”
