Dad of Love Island star Amy ‘found it too painful to watch her in villa’ as she quits

Amy left the villa after her romance with Curtis didn't work out

The dad of Love Island star Amy Hart reportedly struggled to watch his daughter on the show.

It was reported yesterday that Amy left the villa after her split with fellow islander Curtis Pritchard left her “broken hearted”.

According to The Sun, funeral director Ian refuses to watch the show and found it “very tough” to watch his daughter on the ITV2 reality show.

An insider told the publication: “Ian’s a normal father who finds it concerning to watch his daughter go through the rigours of Love Island.

“He can’t bear to read all the upsetting opinions on the internet about her. He has taken down his Facebook account and now refuses to watch the show. Any father would find this sort of thing very tough to watch while powerless to intervene.”

It comes after The Sun reported that Amy had decided to leave the villa as she “felt she had gotten as much as she could from the experience”.

A source added: “She fell in love, had her heart broken and couldn’t stand the thought of seeing Curtis crack on with other girls while under the same roof as her.

“She was given therapy and support from the producers at ITV and they felt she was emotionally sound enough to make her own decision. They would never dream of keeping someone in there if they weren’t happy about it.”

A spokesperson for the show said: “Amy has decided to leave the villa after she didn’t find love with Curtis.

“She is a strong woman who knows her own mind and the show has given her the confidence to give finding love on the outside a go.”

Amy’s decision to leave the villa came after she was left fuming when Maura Higgins persuaded her to ditch Curtis before admitting she has feelings for him.

In scenes which aired last night (July 8), Amy accused Maura, 28, of intentionally encouraging her not to give her half-boyfriend a second chance after he pursued new islander Jourdan.

Maura told her: “From day one, I said that [Curtis] would have been one of the guys I would have gone for. I do fancy him. I’m an honest person, I can’t hold back, so I did tell him that I liked him.”

Amy hit back: “But not honest enough to come and tell me first that you were going to do it?”

Maura then argued: “When I came in here, I felt that out of all the girls here, you were the one that wouldn’t let me in.”

“A lot of stuff makes sense to me now,” Amy replied, adding: “You were one of the most vocal that he didn’t deserve a second chance.”
