This Morning viewers give their verdict on Rylan Clark-Neal and Emma Willis

They were a resounding success with fans!

| Updated:

Rylan Clark-Neal and Emma Willis took over This Morning on Tuesday as Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby enjoy an Easter break.

And, naturally, there was plenty of chatter among viewers as to just how Rylan and Emma got on.

The pair are, of course, no stranger to presenting together, working together on Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother over the years.

In fact, they even started Tuesday’s This Morning by jokingly telling viewers they were not watching Big Brother and there was no need to change channels!

Rylan pointed out they’re used to working together late at night, so both needed to be on their best behaviour.

Emma said: “I have to remember Rylan on his morning television best behaviour, so when I look at his face I have to not think naughty, I have to think well-behaved!”

The pair have both hosted This Morning with other people over the years,  but never together.

Rylan joked: “We’ve worked together six years and we’ve never done This Morning together. I’ve pretty much done it with everyone else you could imagine. Ruth Langsford, my husband, Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Geri Horner, Lorraine Kelly, Alison Hammond, Sarah Greene… I get around!”

Emma, who has hosted with Phillip, Stephen Mulhern, Eamonn Holmes and Patrick Kielty, replied: “I’ve done it four times. Four very strong contenders. They are big hitters and now you are on that list, too.”

“I’m so excited to be sharing the week with you,” said Rylan.

“It’s going to be lovely,” agreed Emma.

Rylan later revealed he’d been sent a text from This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford, wishing him and Emma lots of luck on their debut presenting gig together.

But, the big question is, how did viewers react?!

Well, it was an overwhelming positive reception for Rylan and Emma, with many viewers praising their chemistry and presenting skills.

Of course, you can’t please everyone, and there were others who weren’t fans…

Rylan and Emma will host This Morning until Friday.

As well as marking Rylan’s first time hosting the show with Emma, it was his first time back on the ITV programme since temporarily stepping down from his showbiz correspondent role in December.

He took a break from TV work to focus on his well-being and other projects.

Despite being off screen, Rylan has said he watched This Morning every day and would text Holly and Phil throughout.

“We have little jokes as if I was there and we were chatting during the breaks,” he said.

“It has been weird. I sit there watching, thinking, ‘I might as well be there!’ But it’s also been nice to actually watch it for a change. I’ve had such nice messages from everyone saying, ‘When are you back?’

“I speak to Ruth and Eamonn the whole time and I text Holly and Phillip. I’m not forgotten. At  the same time, it’s great to come back and say, ‘See I wasn’t sacked! I’m not ‘pregnant’ and I’m not getting divorced.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
