Viewers slate Eamonn Holmes for awkwardly greeting Caitlyn Jenner

This Morning viewers were up in arms when Eamonn didn't give her a warm embrace

Was he awkward, shy or just being Eamonn Holmes?

The presenter gave off some weird vibes when he introduced the legendary Caitlyn Jenner to This Morning, er, this morning.

Some viewers thought he looked distinctly uncomfortable with the trans superstar when she joined Eamonn and wife Ruth Langsford on the couch.

While his wife, Ruth gave Caitlyn a kiss and a hug, Eamonn stood back before offering her a blokey handshake.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians idol sat on the This Morning sofa to talk some more about her journey to becoming a woman.

Eamonn isn’t known for his tactful delivery on sensitive issues and he didn’t disappoint on this occasion either.

He asked whether Caitlyn’s former identity was deceased, asking: “Is Bruce dead?”, before ploughing on with: “You’re a younger looking woman than Bruce was a man.”

Cait, 67, answered: “I’d have to agree with you on that one. I’m much more comfortable this way. It’s sometimes hard for family members but they can see my happiness.”

Viewers were quick to spot the suspected awkwardness. One said: “Watching @thismorning very awkward greeting & no kiss from Eammon for Caitlin #cringe”

Another added: “#ThisMorning bit awkward, as Eamon Holmes makes his feelings clear by avoiding welcome hug from Caitlyn Jenner. Ridiculous!”

A third said: “Why didn’t Eamonn kiss her like any other female guest?”

A fourth agreed: “Eamonn not comfortable with Caitlyn Jenner at all.”

Cait is in town to promote her controversial new book, The Secrets of My Life, which her very angry ex Kris Jenner claims is full of “lies”.

The star is also appearing at tonight’s NatWest LGBT Awards, where she’s hotly tipped to pick up a gong from hosts Alan Carr and Mel Sykes.

Caitlyn transitioned from Bruce two years ago, shocking but also inspiring the world with her beautiful and brave transition.

“For my entire life, Caitlyn has been around but she lived inside, she never had a chance to live,” she said.

“Bruce pretty much did everything he could in his life, raised an amazing family, went through a lot.

“But I was finally at a point in life where I made peace with my kids, loved ones, God, so I can let her live.”

Tonight is the first real appearance Caitlyn has made in the UK since her gender reassignment surgery in January and big crowds are expected to cheer her on at the awards.
