Victoria Beckham teaches Harper ‘girls should be kind to girls’ as she opens up about childhood bullying

She wants her daughter to be "healthy and happy"

After being slammed by trolls for taking her daughter Harper backstage at London Fashion Week, Victoria Beckham has stressed the importance of girls being “kind” to other girls.

Earlier this week, Victoria posted pictures of Harper, eight, backstage at her catwalk show, with some blasting the former Spice Girl for promoting an “unhealthy body image” by allowing Harper to mix with the “stick thin” models.

Now Victoria has revealed that she was “mentally and physically” bullied at school and said she has used her painful past to instill in her daughter the importance of girls being “kind” to other girls.

Speaking to Glamour, Victoria revealed: “I was bullied a lot at school, mentally and physically and the fact that I can talk to Harper about that and how girls should be kind to girls… I use my own experiences.”

Victoria – who has children Brooklyn, 20, Romeo, 17, Cruz, 14, and Harper with husband David – has previously spoken of the “hell” she went through during her time at secondary school.

She told OK!: “Secondary school was hell. Children picking things up out of the puddles and throwing them at me. I just stood there, on my own. I didn’t have any friends.”

She added: “People would push me around and say they were going to beat me up.”

Victoria believed she was singled out from a young age because of her appearance, but claimed the bullying gave her a “very thick skin”.

She explained: “I was a skinny, sallow-faced eight year old with pigtails and a gap in my teeth big enough for a pea to get stuck in. It was miserable. I didn’t fit in.”

Now, Victoria says, she’s focusing on showing her “little people” how to be “healthy and happy” with themselves.

And the 44 year old revealed that it’s important that she leads by example.

She said: “They notice everything. I would never sit down with my kids and skip a meal – they need to see that their mum eats healthily – you need to show little people how to be healthy and happy with who they are.”

One member of the Beckham gang who most certainly seems happy this week is the former singer’s second eldest son Romeo.

He was seen grinning from ear-to-ear earlier this week when his new girlfriend Mia “Mimi” Moocher joined the Beckhams for a post-LFW family dinner.
