Victoria Beckham pokes fun at her lack of royal wedding smiles

She's having the last laugh!

Victoria Beckham has proven she doesn’t take herself too seriously after being criticised for not looking happy at the royal wedding.

The former Posh Spice made a fashion statement in a rather telling jumper, just days after some called her out for not smiling more while watching The Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot.

Her jumper (from her own range, obvs) features the slogan: “It’s a dark but happy place.”

She told fans: “When you’re smiling on the inside 😂😂😂 As the sweatshirt says!! Let your sweatshirt do the talking – get yours now exclusively at my website and #VBDoverSt x VB #DarkButHappyPlace.”

Fans were quick to praise Victoria’s sense of humour and tell her not to worry about whether she smiles or not in public.

Others said she’d had the last laugh by using the criticism to promote her business!

One fan said: “Love the caption. Love the way you have handled all the comments over the last few days. Very gracious.”

Another wrote: “Love this ❤ not everyone wishes to wear fake smiles 24/7. As long as you’re smiling on the inside that’s all that matters.”

A third said: “Well done Posh!! Unfortunately I’m like you – put a camera near me & the smile definitely hides inside me … is it what it is!!”

And a fourth wrote: “Too funny! Love how you always take tabloid sass and turn it into something that benefits you.”

The jumper Victoria is wearing is priced at £175 and, according to her official website, actually refers to the star’s love of sunglasses.

A description reads: “The slogan is in reference to Victoria’s love of sunglasses, ‘you could say I’m slightly obsessed with sunglasses – I never leave the house without a pair. Wearing glasses all the time, I like to say that I’m in a ‘dark but happy place’.”

The sweatshirt comes in grey or black, and there are matching T-shirts available in grey, black and white as well.

The fashion designer and retired footballer husband David were among the 600 guests who watched Prince Harry tie the knot with former actress Meghan Markle – now The Duchess of Sussex – on Saturday.

Cameras caught Victoria, 44, and David, 43, arriving at Windsor Castle and finding their seats, which led cheeky TV commentators including Phillip Schofield and Dermot O’Leary to joke about Victoria not smiling.

But chatting to the Evening Standard, Victoria said she had the “best day”.

Victoria said: “It was such a beautiful, incredible wedding. It was just the best day. They looked so happy, and everybody was just so happy for them. Meghan seems like a genuinely lovely woman, who really loves him.

“It felt very real, very honest.”

After Harry and Meghan’s big day, Victoria said on Instagram: “Congratulations, an amazing day. So proud to be British! Thank you so much for including @davidbeckham and I. We are so honoured and so happy for you both.”

David added: “What a proud day for our country today! Watching Harry as happy as he was makes us all proud of the man and person he has always been…what a day!”
