Vicky Pattison has hit back at reports that she was sensationally dropped from the new look Blind Date at the eleventh hour.

In a series of video posts on Instagram, the Geordie lass addressed the recent rumours that she had been dumped in favour of Mel Sykes.

The gobby lass also addressed yesterday’s shock reports that she’d also been fired from I’m A Celeb spin-off, Extra Camp.

In the video posts, the former jungle queen confirmed that she had indeed been in talks with Blind Date’s producers when the show had been planned as a post watershed Friday night show geared toward young people.

However, she continued, when the show was rebranded as a Sunday night family show, producers decided to take a different direction and decided to bring in family favourites Paul O’Grady and Mel Sykes.

“I was in talks to host the show in some way at some point” she explained. “however that was back when it was going to be a Friday night reboot, post water-shed, wild and crazy for young audiences.”

“It’s since had a massive scheduling change and it’s going to be pre-watershed.”

She added: “I’m sure you will all agree that in that timeslot it’s completely 100 per cent better suited to fantastic professional presenters like Mel and Paul.

“All I have to say about that now is in my heart of hearts, I know the right people got the job. Mel and Paul will smash it, especially at the time the show is on, for that audience and being the consummate professionals that they are.”

“I can’t wait to watch it,” she added.

In the same set of posts she said addressed the latest rumour that she had been sacked for Extra Camp.

“If I’m not right for a job or producers decide to replace me I will take it on the chin. I know I am relatively new to this industry I know that’s the nature of the game .

“However there have been no decisions made about Extra Camp. None at all. That’s a quote that’s gone on the record from both ITV and my management.

“If and when the time comes that ITV wants to replace us I will accept it.

“At the moment the big wigs and the large cheeses are far too busy worrying about Takeaway and Love Island. We get thought about further along in the year!”

Blind Date is set to rerun to our screens this summer and is welcoming LGBT love searchers.
