VERY hopeful news for I’m a Celebrity… and Ant McPartlin fans!

Nothing can keep a good lad down for long

I’m A Celeb fans will be delighted to know Ant McPartlin is likely to host the next series of the reality show.

After his recent admission to a prescription drug and alcohol addiction, rumours circulated that Ant would be replaced as Dec’s co host for I’m A Celeb.

But now there is hope that Ant could be well enough to present the show, after he recently checked himself into rehab.

An inside source told The Mirror: “He’s done absolutely the right thing and should be fine for I’m a Celebrity.”

It was recently revealed that ITV bosses offered Ant a “12 month sabbatical” to recover.

A television insider said: “It is all still too early to say for sure what will happen, but all anyone wants is for Ant to get well again.

“He and Dec are the backbone of the ITV family and… Ant has the network’s complete and utter support.

They continued: “Formally, Ant has no work commitments until November and obviously the hope is that he will be completely better by then, and able to fulfil them. But ITV will not rush him in any way, and the feeling is he must take as long as he needs.

“If he wants a 12 month sabbatical, frankly he deserves it. The sense is though that both Ant and Dec love working, and Ant will want to get back down to work before the end of the year.”

Ant, 41, checked into rehab last month after admitting to his wife Lisa and best friend Dec that he knows he has a drink and drug problem.

In an interview with The Sun on Sunday Ant said: “The first step is to admit to yourself you need help.”

He also went on to say: “I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that I am truly sorry.

“I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends for helping me through this really difficult time.

“I’ve spoken out because I think it’s important that people ask for help if they’re going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery.”

Ant’s former girlfriend and Byker Grove co-star Nicola Bell recently told the Sunday Mirror: “We’re still in touch and still friends and I know that Ant is doing well, thankfully.”
