UK weather forecast: Hail and thunder predicted as miserable conditions set to get WORSE

Where did the summer go?

Weather experts reckon parts of Britain will get soaked today and tomorrow as Storm Miguel continues to batter areas with rain and heavy winds.

Hail and thunder is also expected to frustrate people hoping for a sunny June weekend as the blustery conditions and low pressure push north through the country.

And although temperatures could reach as high as 18 degrees in some places, it is expected to remain unseasonably cool at around 12 degrees in the majority of places.

Following Saturday’s grim start in the Midlands and the north of England, rain is believed to moving to the east, where downpours are expected.

The Met Office also forecasts it will be windy across most of the England and Wales, making it feel chilly for those out and about.

It will remain overcast with lingering showers in Northern Ireland and Scotland this evening.

And despite the washout predictions, it is thought Sunday may be slightly less windy than Saturday.

Nonetheless, showers will develop and there will be strong chance of thunder, particularly in the north and west.

Met Office meteorologist Clare Nasir told the Sun’s website: “Saturday will be wet and windy for most places.”

She continued: “There is a risk of lighting, thunder and some torrential downpours.”

Fellow Met Office forecaster Alex Deakin also warned the conditions would be “bleak”.

He told the Daily Express website: “If you’re after warm and sunny weather this weekend you’re going to be disappointed.”

According to the BBC, strong showers will persist into next week, with conditions brightening for Scotland on Tuesday.

However, it will continue to be windy and rainy for England on Wednesday – although the heavy rain could ease a little in the south.
