UK Bank Holiday weather: Easter weekend washout fears as rain and SNOW forecast

Well, the sunshine was nice while it lasted!

Most of us in the UK have had great weather over the past few days, raising hopes that the Easter bank holiday weekend could be a scorcher.

But don’t go rushing out to buy sun cream just yet – according to the experts, the weather is going to turn imminently, with rain and cold temperatures expected.

And the outlook is even worse for people north of the border, where it’s suggested there could even be some SNOW.

Met Office forecaster Richard Miles told the Mirror: “It’s looking like we could see a bit of rain over Easter, especially in western parts of the UK.

“I wouldn’t rule out snow in parts of Scotland.”

The wet weather could start as early as today. The Met Office tweeted a forecast this morning saying that the UK would be “largely dry”.

And Met Office forecaster Craig Snell told The Sun Online: “Towards the end of the day, there will be some rain reaching for the west of Cornwall and the western parts of Northern Ireland.

“Temperatures will slide to 10-12C in the west of the UK, whilst the east will increase to 8-10C. It will be another chilly-feeling day, but it won’t be bad if you are under the sun.”

It was even predicted that temperatures could soar to 24C over the Easter weekend.

However, that looks unlikely now, with The Weather Outlook meteorologist Brian Gaze predicting a cold snap to go with the wet weather.

He told the Sun Online: “Daytime temperatures will be below average, and nights are likely to be particularly cold for mid April with widespread frosts.”
