Coronation Street: Bethany’s FRESH torment over twisted cop Neil

Teenager was raped by Nathan's friend

| Updated:

While most Coronation Street fans know by now that newcomer Kayla Westbrook is set to cause a stir between Bethany and Craig, it has remained a mystery as to who she really is.

Arriving on the Street as Speed Daal’s new waitress recently, Kayla quickly established herself as a chatty, friendly member of the community. But little do her new friends know, she is harbouring a big secret.

Next week sees Bethany heartbroken when it seems Craig is moving on following their break up when confident Kayla gives him her number while she serves them at Speed Daal.

But it seems there is a lot more to Kayla than meets the eye after Daily Star Sunday has reported that she is actually the daughter of PC Neil Clifton, who was part of the criminal gang who groomed Bethany last year.

According to the newspaper, Corrie is set to revisit Bethany’s horrific grooming ordeal once again as Kayla’s true identity is revealed.

Bethany is reportedly horrified when she finds out that the newcomer is so closely connected to her grim past at the hands of evil Nathan Curtis.

Viewers will remember that Nathan was responsible for manipulating poor Bethany into sleeping with his friends as part of a horrific sex ring – including his policeman friend, Neil.

Neil then abused his position on the police force to keep Nathan’s grooming of Bethany off the criminal radar.

Both Neil and Nathan were sentenced to time in jail following their crimes, but earlier this year Bethany was shocked when she discovered Neil was appealing against his conviction.

When Kayla first arrives on the cobbles she keeps her true identity a secret – but is this because she doesn’t realise who Bethany is, or because she is trying to get revenge on her and Craig for getting her dad sent to prison?

According to the Daily Star Sunday Bethany will struggle with having this stark reminder of what happened with Nathan last year on the same street as her.

How will she cope with her grooming ordeal coming back to haunt her every time she leaves the house?

Kayla is set to meet Bethany and Craig on screen in tomorrow night’s (Monday 7th May) Coronation Street double bill – so it doesn’t look like we will have long to wait to see how this storyline plays out.

Entertainment Daily has contacted Coronation Street for further comment.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
