Tragedy for Big Fat Gypsy Weddings star

Paddy Doherty’s had a devastating death in the family

Big Fat Gypsy Weddings star Paddy Doherty and his family have been left heartbroken after Paddy’s nephew, teenager Tom Doherty, was killed in a car crash on October 9th.

The accident occurred on Coopers Hill Road in South Nutfield, Surrey. Exactly what happened to ‘Tom Boy’ is unclear at this stage, but a Coroner’s inquest has just been opened on the incident.

Paddy and the rest of the Doherty clan are said to be devastated by the loss of young Tom, who was an amateur boxing champion who had been picked for the Frank Bruno Boxing Academy.

17-year-old Tom was said to be quite the role model for other teenagers and children in the local community too. He was known for his good behaviour and dedication to sports, fitness and boxing in particular.

The teenager was also a popular figure in the traveller community on the Green Lane plot in his hometown of Outwood and his death has not only affected the Doherty family, but the whole site.

Doherty was driving a white Citroen Berlingo when the vehicle crashed at around 7.50pm on October 9th. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

Tom’s grandfather Thomas spoke to Get Surrey of the family’s loss. The 57 year-old said, “Tom was a living soul, a legend, a great boy and a brilliant amateur boxer…”

“He was loved by everybody he met,” Mr Doherty went on.
