Tom Hardy has been left heartbroken following the death of his beloved dog Woody this week.
The actor opened up about loosing his four-legged friend, who passed away from an inflammatory muscle disorder called polymyositis, in an emotional message on Tumblr.
The 39-year-old said he’s already missing Woody and said “the world for me was a better place with him in it”.
In the heartfelt post Tom wrote: “To the bestest friend ever. To me and to a family who loved him beyond words and whom he loved without doubt more than I have ever known.
“Woody was the bestest of journey companions we ever could dream of having. Our souls intertwined forever.
“He was only age six. He was far too young to leave us and we at home are devastated by his loss.
“I am ultimately grateful for his loyal companionship and love and it is of some great comfort that he is no longer suffering.”
He added: “He was special bro, a shining example of man’s best friend. He burnt very very bright and those that burn very bright sometimes burn half as long.
“Thank you Woody for choosing to find us. We will love you and be with you and you with us forever.
“Never ever ever forgotten. Your boy Tom xxx I love you beyond words. To the moon and back again and again. To infinity and beyond.”
The Hollywood hunk ended the message writing: “Run with the angels. I will see you when I get there. With all of me I love you. Always.
“Thank you for your love beautiful boy.”
Tom and Woody became best of friends after the actor rescued the dog when he was filming in his 2012 movie Lawless in Atlanta.
Tom spoke about his special bond with the animal after he admitted the pooch helped him after the death of his dog Max.
Previously speaking about how he found his adorable pet Tom said: “I watched this thing running towards the highway in the pitch black making good speed towards the cars and lorries and I remember seeing what were its floppy ears bouncing towards the traffic. The dog’s had it, I thought.
“It was a very small bundle literally sagging from its neck fur with two big brown eyes staring into mine. Terrified and utterly quiet. When I got back to the car and sat in my seat he lay on my shoulder and fell asleep.”
He explained how he then took him back to the UK.
Woody was voted the 73rd most influencial animal by times magazine and also appeared on TV alongside Hardy for CBeebies Bedtime Stories.
