Tina O’Brien insists she needs to make more time for herself

The mum-of-two says she needs to practise self care

Coronation Street’s Tina O’Brien has given a refreshingly honest account about struggling to make time for herself and keep fit as a working mum.

The actress opened up about getting back into the gym in an Instagram post and reminded all the mums out there to make time for themselves, too.

The 35-year-old mum-of-two revealed that she has been feeling demotivated and has been ‘neglecting’ herself.

She wrote in her Instagram post: “No more excuses! Day 1 of Mrs sweat head! Speed skipping and some random press ups and squats. I’ve been so busy with my job and mummy duties I feel I’ve really neglected myself.”

She continued: “I’ve not been taking time out for any self care…seriously cutting my toe nails and shaving my legs feels like a pamper at the moment, poor Adam.”

She revealed that she is attempting to do ten minute bursts of exercise with a skipping rope whenever she can each day, pointing out that it’s the same amount of time she often spends just scrolling through social media!

Tina, who plays Sarah Platt on Corrie, has 10-year-old daughter Scarlett from her relationship with ex Ryan Thomas, and four-year-old son Beau with hubby Adam Crofts.

Tina, who married Adam on New Year’s Eve, said she is now determined to make more time not just for exercise but for self care.

She added in her lengthy message: “I’m going to take some responsibility and find time and not just time for fitness but for all types of self care.”

Her honest message also comes after she bravely opened up last month about the post-natal depression she suffered after having Scarlett.

Tina revealed she struggled as a single mum and there would be “no income” at times. And she urged others who may be suffering the same to seek help.

She wrote: “I wish I could tell the scared and fragile Tina of 10 years ago it’s going to be ok, you will get through this.”

#10yearchallenge wouldn’t be complete without my incredible 10 year old daughter. I wish I could tell the scared and fragile Tina of 10 years ago it’s going to be ok, you will get through this. I had very bad post natal depression even looking at the pic on the left reminds me how bad it was and that makes me so sad. I wish I’d had the confidence to ask for help. Life felt pretty dark for a little while. Luckily the dark days eventually lifted. I was then a single mum, times when absolutely no income was coming in. I’d be lying if I said it was easy. 2009 was a tough year But to get through things sure as hell makes you stronger. To some incredible highs, great opportunities and jobs have come along. I’ve met some wonderful people who are still in my life. All the while caring for, loving and watching my beautiful, kind little girl grow in front of my eyes. Feeling in a very wonderful place in 2019 married to the most caring and incredible man I could ever wish to have met. Sometimes I still can’t believe you picked me @adamcrofts I feel so loved and I feel so bloody grateful to be a part of our little family. I’ll never take any of it for granted I promise 😍
