This Morning fans have been left disgusted after host Eamonn Holmes shushed wife Ruth Langsford live on the show.

The presenting couple, who are standing in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield this week, were talking to Simon Calder, the show’s travel correspondent, on travel woes.

But viewers were not impressed as Eamonn held his hand up and told her to be quiet as she went to ask Simon a question.

Eamonn, 57, and Ruth, 57, were talking about a hen party who were kicked off their flight after wearing “offensive” t-shirts.

But as Ruth went to ask Simon a question Eamonn interrupted and hushed his wife while he spoke to Simon.

One outraged viewer wrote on Twitter: “Can’t believe Eamonn just put his hand in Ruth’s face and told her to ‘shhh’, how rude!!! #ThisMorning.”

“#ThisMorning did he just hush her,” another added.

A third tweeted: “As if Eamon Holmes just told Ruth to ‘shush’. How rude?! #thismorning.”

This comes after Eamonn failed a lie detector on Loose Women when quizzed about his marriage to the presenter.

Loose ladies, Ruth, Katie Price, Stacey Solomon and Ola Jordan, were all joined by their partners for a bank holiday special on Monday.

Eamonn was asked three questions including whether he checks her phone behind her back and if he gets jealous of her male friends.

Despite passing the first two questions the TV personality was caught lying after being asked if he lies to his other half about where he has been.

Ruth was shocked at the results before asking her spouse: “I can tell when he’s lying. Where have you been and not told me?”

Defending himself Eamonn admitted: “Look the only time I lie to you about that is when you say ‘have you taken the dog for a walk’ and I say ‘yes’ – that’s the only time I lied.”

But Ruth wasn’t quite convinced and revealed she would “dwell” on his confession.

She said: “I am going to dwell on that tonight… You know what I’m like.”
