Everyone loves Fridays, being the start of the weekend and all that. But there’s one thing that usually puts a dampener on the day.
Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby always take a day off from presenting This Morning. Boooo!
No offence to Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, who stand in for the Friday shift, but we miss Phil and Holly’s chemistry as we munch our toast and Marmite.

So you can imagine how pleased we were when the two popular hosts made a surprise appearance on their day off before taking a six-week break from the show.
As the intro music finished, the pair stood there grinning. And when Holly uttered the words: “Welcome to your FRIDAY morning,” Phil pulled his best comedy ‘surprised’ face.
“Phil and I are not usually here,” she continued, “but it’s our last show before the summer break.”
Phil added: “Eamonn and Ruth will be holding the fort from Monday.”
And it seems we weren’t the only ones who were made up to see Phil and Holly presenting, as fans took to Twitter to express their delight.
“Put This Morning on expecting it to be Eamonn and Ruth and it’s Phil and Holly,” wrote one viewer. “What a lovely surprise.”
Another said: “Holly and Phil presenting This Morning on a Friday. What have I done to deserve this treat?”
And a third fan added: “An absolute delight to see Holly and Phil hosting this morning, happy friday!!”
Holly and Phil have been presenting This Morning together since 2009, but always take the school holidays off, returning to the show in September.
While Eamonn and Ruth take over the reins on most days, the programme has occasional guest presenters – past ones have included Amanda Holden, Rylan Clark-Neal and Christine Lampard.

Holly later took to Instagram to show off the outfit she wore on today’s show – a cowgirl-style denim shirt and flowery skirt.
Alongside the picture, she wrote: “@schofe had his dream coat, I’ve got my dream skirt! Today’s look on @thismorning. Shirt by @marksandspencer and skirt by @eponinelondon.”
