Can you believe we’re already in episode 7 of The Apprentice? Which means things are really getting serious.
As Steph said: “There’s nowhere to hide anymore.”
(Although, Nick did a good job of it this week.)
The teams were tasked with designing, branding and launching a driverless vehicle, called a ‘pod’, pitching it to corporate clients.
We’ve never seen Lord Sugar et al laugh quite so much at the efforts.
Here’s what we else learned from this week’s episode.
The Apprentice episode 7: A ‘party’ is not an ‘experience’. Apart from when it is.
Sophie seems to have been taking lessons from Boris Johnson over not quite understanding the concept of a ‘party’.
After definitely telling Diverse that she wanted a ‘Party Pod’, Sophie then decided she hadn’t said this at all.
Despite literally saying: “I have a really strong vision and I want to do a party pod.”

Then later: “Just forget the party element of it.”
We were waiting for her to call it a ‘work event pod’, to be honest.
The Apprentice episode 7: Akeem needs to look up ‘assertive’
Akeem might have been project manager, but it was Harpreet who really took the lead in this task.
Poor Akeem didn’t even know who he was pitching to when talking to the board at Wembley Park. Luckily Harps was there to save him.
But her face when when Akeem later exclaimed joyfully: “I think we got everything we wanted!” was murderous.
The Apprentice episode 7: Akshay likes cars
There’s no getting away from it – Akshay really likes cars.
He has never worked with cars. But he likes them.
He wanted to be Project Manager based on this. Which seemed laughable at first.
But it actually made sense as Sophie made a pig’s ear of the task, and then threw the members of her team under the bus – or pod – in the boardroom.
Bees are contributing to the planet
Which is just as well, because none of the contestants are.
Brittany and Aaron came up with Beepure for the branding of Infinity’s pod.
“We like the concept of the bees, because they are what are contributing to the planet,” Brittany confidently said.
Watch out, David Attenborough.
Information is an acquired taste
Akeem didn’t seem fazed when Brittany asked him how much the corporate client would be looking to pay for each unit. Or when she asked him how many units they’d be looking to buy.
“That was information we didn’t actually acquire,” he said.
Later, in the boardroom, Lord Sugar looked aghast over this massive oversight.
But he reassured Akeem that “they [Diverse] didn’t either. Which amazes me.”
And a few other highlights…
“Cele-pod. Because you’re out there celebrating. In a pod.” – Akshay
“Do we want to incorporate anything to do with bees?” – Brittany, immediately after crediting bees for saving the world.
“What they’ve put together is a toaster that’s exploding.” – Karren.

“She’s gone all-out party.” – a bemused Karren as Sophie designed her not-a-party pod.
“It is a party pod, but it’s not a party pod, but it is a party pod but it needs to be an experience,” – Stephanie.
“To me it looks a bit like a pimp-mobile.” – Lord Sugar on the Party Pod.
