The amazing reason KFC follows exactly 11 people on Twitter

It's finger lickin' good

Anybody who’s enjoyed the delicious fried chicken served at KFC will have wondered what exactly they put into it to make it so delicious.

And while the exact recipe is a secret guarded more vigilantly than the Crown Jewels, any KFC employee will tell you that the secret blend of “11 herbs and spices” is what gives the chicken its distinct flavour.

But it seems like KFC’s social media team may have dropped an enormous hint about what goes into their batter, as eagle-eyed fans have spotted something curious about their “following” list.

The account is following exactly 11 people – Spice Girls Victoria Beckham, Geri Horner, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C – as well as six civilians named Herb.

So that means – you’ve got it – they’re following exactly 11 Herbs and Spices!

Fans have been going mad on Twitter since they found out the news, with one describing the move as “genius” and offering whoever thought of it a job.

And another described the move as a “low key genius bomb”.

The six Herbs don’t appear to have anything in common – one is an LA City Council President, another plays for an American football team and one more is a trumpeter.

A copy of the original ingredients list for KFC’s chicken is signed by the main man himself, Colonel Sanders, and is securely locked in a vault at the chicken giant’s Louisville HQ.

The firm first started selling chicken in 1952 – the brand celebrated their 65th anniversary this year – and have managed to keep their recipe secret ever since, despite many trying to emulate it.

Although as yet, nobody’s quite got there, although in 2016 one of Colonel Sanders’ nephews claimed to have found the recipe on a scrap of paper hidden in a book – although KFC neither confirmed nor denied this was legitimate.

Fans of social media banter have boosted KFC’s Twitter account to an amazing 1.22 MILLION followers, who will all no doubt be tuning in to see what other amazing social campaigns the brand can come up with.

We say that’s all well and good – but if we’re honest with ourselves, we’re really only here for the chicken.
