Downs Syndrome couple Niki Wyatt and Samantha Lochrie were guests on the show with their mums Jackie and Kim to talk about how they had been cruelly banned from kissing at their local youth club.

Their parents had been told that their behaviour had been deemed ‘inappropriate’ even though the smitten kittens were well over 18.

But while viewers were moved by that touching part of the story, no one expected what happened next next.

Prompted by his mum, 30-year-old Niki fell to one knee and popped the question.

Sam didn’t waste a second in saying ‘yes’.

The romantic gesture had viewers reaching for a hanky.

One tickled viewer gushed: “That was actually the cutest thing I’ve ever watched”, while another romantic swooned: “Sam & Nicky, it’s hard to find love nowadays. U 2 are gorgeous & lucky to hav each other. Sooo cute! Beautiful [sic]”.

Another viewer admitted that they had even been moved to tears by the tender moment.

“Aww crying so much at the wee Down syndrome couple getting engaged on @thismorning.”

In a forceful two fingers up to the youth club that had banned them,  the pair shared a lingering kiss, looked on by their proud mums and a tearful Ruth Langsford.

Their touching story and Niki’s romantic gesture had viewers blubbing.

“I have a gorgeous Down’s Syndrome nephew & I want him to live his life without prejudice,” said one inspired viewer.

Another viewer admitted the telly moment had brought out their soft side: “I’m not normally an emotional person but this story even left a lump in my throat. Congrats to the happy couple.”
