Take That superstar Gary Barlow shares his secrets to help his fans

He's encouraging people to live a healthier lifestyle

Gary Barlow has revealed his top weight loss secrets which have helped him drop five stone.

The singer, who has publicly battled with his weight throughout his career, says his main advice to get healthier and drop the pounds is cooking your own food, reducing sugar intake and controlling portion size.

Gary, 47, admitted he’s become “obsessed” with healthy eating and has launched an online initiative called Barlow’s Bootcamps, which inspires others to slim-down and get healthy.

The former Take That star recently told The Sun: “When you look at someone filling a trolley full of ready-made meals, I’d say get rid of that and try and cook for yourself.”

He said people who blame their “busy lives” for not cooking their own meals have no excuse because he still finds the time to cook, despite his hectic career.

“I’m a busy, busy guy with lots of responsibility but I cook every day for me and my wife,” Gary added.

At one point in his career, Gary topped the scales at 17st 2lb but he finally had enough and made a change.

“If I can’t cook on a Monday I cook more on a Sunday so I’ve got food for Monday,” he continued.

“It’s about taking control. Rather than blaming, ‘Why am I fat? What are you doing to me Marks & Spencer — I eat your food all day’, you be in control of it.”

Gary is now passing on his fitness secrets by launching Barlow’s Bootcamps.

The star decided to do the project for free on social media rather than making a fitness DVD.

“My business is music. I wanted to tour, I want to make records — I love that,” he told the publication.

“And I get paid for that very nicely. I don’t need to make money off telling people how I’ve lost weight. I can do that through Instagram, because people shouldn’t be charged for that.”

Gary said he’s learned fitness tips from “various people” over the years and wants his fans to be able to learn “the odd tip” from Barlow’s Bootcamps.

“But it’s not a diet — it definitely isn’t,” he insisted.

The star admitted he does fall off the wagon now and again, but he will never return to his binge-eating days.
