Strictly’s Frankie Bridge has intensive acting lessons in New York to land musical theatre role

She says acting, singing and dancing together would be the dream!

Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Frankie Bridge has been having acting lessons in New York in a bid to crack the West End.

The mum of two has several strings to her bow already, including popstar as a member of The Saturdays, TV star with S Club Juniors, reality star with Chasing The Saturdays and, of course, dancer on Strictly.

However, she told The Sun’s Fabulous magazine her ultimate ambition now is to break into musical theatre.

“That would be the dream – singing, acting and dancing,” she said.

Frankie has spent the last few weeks over in America studying on an intensive acting course, and is hoping to use those new skills to land a role in the West End.

She added to the Evening Standard: “I’m out here to learn and it was a case of putting myself in an uncomfortable position and seeing how it goes. The aim wasn’t necessarily ‘I want to be an actress’ but, at the end, maybe.”

Frankie, 29, suggested the pace of life as an actor is favourable over that of a popstar, especially as she and husband Wayne have two young sons: Parker, four, and two-year-old Carter.

“With music, it’s 24/7, and it’s like a non-stop rollercoaster – go, go, go, all the time. Now I like being a bit more choosy and weighing up if it’s something I believe in enough to justify spending time away from my children,” she told Fabulous.

“I have days when I wonder if maybe I should have [tried a solo career], but only because people keep asking me! Otherwise I don’t think it would have crossed my mind. I don’t really have a need for it. I’m enjoying exploring new things at the moment.”

Frankie shot to fame as a member of S Club Juniors back in 2001, going on to join The Saturdays in 2007.

The band announced their indefinite hiatus in 2014 and, although there are no current plans to reform, they all stay in touch.

Chatting to the Daily Mail last week, Frankie said: “We are all in a group chat and talk regularly. I always know what they are up to. With the power of Instagram I know what they are up to.

“For us lot it’s always been about being together and not much has changed. We always give each other time.”

After The Saturdays, Frankie went on to pursue other opportunities including appearing in Strictly Come Dancing’s twelfth series, where she finished as a runner-up.
