Strictly’s Anton du Beke tips Brendan Cole for Dancing With The Stars success

Could our loss be America's gain?

Anton du Beke has backed good friend Brendan Cole to forge a successful career in America following his Strictly Come Dancing axe.

It’s been rumoured that former Strictly head judge Len Goodman, who is now a judge on Dancing With The Stars, has put in a good word with US bosses in a bid to get Brendan a role on the show.

While that’s not been confirmed by Len or Brendan yet, fellow pro dancer Anton thinks it’s a good idea.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine on Wednesday, Anton said: “He could certainly do it, he’s very able to do it, and he’s a big personality, so that’s something he could do. He could have a whizz over there.

“I think he would be an asset to any show he did. I think he’s a fabulous boy and I love him deeply. He’s a great person.

“I think if he went over and did Dancing With The Stars the show would be better for it.

“It would be interesting to see how they took to him.”

The Sun reported that Len was keen to help Brendan following his shock axing from Strictly last week, and had put in a good word with DWTS bosses.

A source claimed: “Brendan is really interested in a move over to LA to appear in Dancing with the Stars.

“He sees it as a fresh start potentially and a way to make a new career for himself.”

Dancing with the Stars is essentially the US version of Strictly: it’s a huge primetime series in America that airs twice a year and attracts huge celebrity contestants.

Previous celeb dancers have included Kim Kardashian, Katherine Jenkins, Ricki Lake, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Grey and Donny Osmond.

Meanwhile, in his Lorraine interview, Anton also admitted he was shocked and saddened by Brendan’s exit from Strictly.

He also confirmed he’s yet to sign on the dotted line for his own return, as the “process” of coming back has only just started. He explained producers call everyone and offer them a return, and then negotiations begin.
