The Strictly Come Dancing curse strikes again!

Another romance bites the dust...

| Updated:

The Strictly curse has been conspicuous by its absence in the headlines during this current series.

With the final of the BBC competition arriving, it seems that that the curse has struck at the eleventh hour.

Professional dancer Gorka Marquez has reportedly split from his fiancée Lauren.

It is believed that this happened when the Strictly entourage decamped to Blackpool, where the celebrities got to dance at the Tower ballroom.

The Spanish ballroom star only got engaged to Lauren Sheridan in the summer but their wedding plans have now been shelved.

It would appear that Gorka had quite a weekend in Blackpool, as he was allegedly attacked by thugs in the seaside town, leaving him requiring dental surgery on two chipped teeth.

Lauren was not with him when he was attacked but it was after that weekend that she apparently removed her wedding ring.

Speaking to The Sun, a source confirmed the news: “Gorka and Lauren aren’t together anymore.

“They were very loved-up but it has come to an end quite fast.”

Gorka, 26, had made an early exit from Strictly this time, when his celebrity partner Tameka Empson being voted off in week three.

Since the EastEnders actress was eliminated, Gorka has been mainly involved in the group professional dances.

His split from Lauren has proved to be a big shock to his friends and family.

The source added: “Nobody saw this coming, and it’s a big shock for their friends and family who thought they were a great match.

“It’s a real shame, and of course they’re both very upset by what has gone on.”

The relationship has definitely ended as 27-year-old Lauren has deleted Gorka from her social media profiles. She has also changed her status to ‘not in a relationship’, and there is no coming back from that.

There have been hints online as to what caused the split and it would seem that it might not be too amicable.

Gorka was first up, posting a message that read: “In case you ever foolishly forget — I am never not thinking about you.”

Lauren then followed that up by putting it out there: “Girls always find things out, they might not say anything right away, but they know.”

Having said that, Lauren told The Sun: “Neither me nor Gorka have confirmed or denied anything. I don’t want to comment.”
