Strictly Come Dancing contestant Melvin Odoom says he has a self-imposed sex ban on during the dancing show.

This week saw him tackle the tango for his second dance alongside professional partner Janette Manrara.

The Kiss FM presenter explained: “I always had a rule that before every show I do, even when I was doing Bang On The Money or The Xtra Factor, I do not do anything… I need all the energy I need.” Blimey.

The radio DJ also revealed the celebrities competing this year are so close they exchange pictures and messages daily on mobile phone messaging service WhatsApp, with a group called Dancing Queens.

“It’s the most random stuff – Sunday roasts, pictures of dogs, things that can help you relax, what you eating, picking up the kids from school, check out this song… it’s the busiest WhatsApp group in history,” he said.

He said: “I managed to get my mum to make my meals. She has been coming over this week and making me tupperware meals.”

Melvin previously hosted The X Factor spin-off show with Rochelle Humes but resigned after just one series before they were replaced with Rylan Clark-Neal and Matt Edmondson.

He admitted he has yet to watch the new series of the ITV talent show but added: “The main show looks great, those guys know what they are doing.”
