Strictly: Bookies say ‘momentum is gathering’ as punters back Emma and Anton to win

Who'll lift the glitter ball trophy?

With the winner of 2019’s Strictly Come Dancing set to be announced this weekend, a flurry of bets have been placed on Emma Barton and her partner Anton Du Beke.

Bookmakers have said that the couple are now more likely than ever to win the show, after their odds shortened from 3/1 to 5/2.

If they do lift the glitter ball trophy, it will be the first tine Anton has won the show.

He has been on Strictly since it started in 2004.

And, while former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher and his professional partner Oti Mabuse remain the favourites to win at 2/5, the bookmakers predict that they shouldn’t get complacent and think the win is in the bag.

A spokesperson for Coral told The Sun that the betting is pointing towards the fact that it could be Anton’s year.

The momentum behind Emma and Anton is gathering serious pace ahead of Saturday’s Strictly final.

They added: “The betting suggested Kelvin had this wrapped up a couple of weeks ago. However, this gamble certainly indicates that is not the case.”

Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden are outsiders this weekend, with their odds of winning currently at 12/1.

The final three will perform three dances on Saturday night’s show.

They’ll do a judges’ pick, a show dance and they’ll each perform their favourite dance from the series.
