Comeback for H

With Strictly, Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions and Celebrity X Factor set to dominate the autumn schedules, TV bosses are already casting their eye on next year’s big talent contests.

So much so, ITV execs have already started to scour the celeb landscapes looking for contestants for the new, 12th series of Dancing On Ice in the New Year.

And it has been reported that a 90s pop legend is in prime position to take part.

The Sun reports that Ian ‘H’ Watkins from Steps is being lined up for the new series.

A source was quoted as saying: “Dancing On Ice is set to be a huge showbiz comeback for ‘H’ and producers are thrilled at the prospect of him joining the show.

“He won a legion of fans in his Steps days with his cheesy dance moves and he could do it all over again by recreating them on the ice.

“Bosses think he’d be hilarious.”

The Sun also reports that H could join other stars on the show.

The likes of Love Island’s Maura Higgins, Diversity’s Perri Kiely, Michelle Heaton and Michael Barrymore have also been approached to appear, it has been claimed.

H – which stands for hyperactive – is no stranger to reality TV.

In 2007 he appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and came fourth.

But it’s a member of 90s pop legends Steps that he made his name.

Alongside Claire Richards, Lee Latchford-Evans, Lisa Scott-Lee and Faye Tozer, H, now 43, enjoyed number-one hits likes Heartbeat/Tragedy and Stomp.

If H does sign up to Dancing On Ice, he’d be joining bandmate Faye Tozer in the TV talent show ranks.

Faye was part of last year’s Strictly Come Dancing and recently claimed that she lost a huge amount of weight while competing on the show, explaining that training for the show left her “emaciated”.

Speaking to Mirror Online, the Steps star said she put on a “few pounds” after the show finished and she now feels like she’s in the best shape of her life.

However, it seems she feels she was too thin just after the TV series ended.

When ask if she was embracing her new dancer’s body, she replied: “Honestly, I need to book a holiday now, so I can take pictures in a bikini while I still look like this.”
