EastEnders star reveals HUGE Christmas storyline

Christmas is set to be explosive for one family...

| Updated:

EastEnders fans listen up, you’re going to want to tune in this Christmas.

Star Lorna Fitzgerald, who plays Abi Branning in the soap, has confirmed that Christmas will be a dramatic affair at the Brannings this year.

With tensions at an all time high in the Branning family, will Max’s revenge plot reach an explosive conclusion?

Lorna recently spoke highly of her co-star, Jake Wood, to Digital Spy. She said: “I love watching Max and I think Jake plays it brilliantly.”

While he seems to be pretty firmly established as one of the show’s greatest villains, Lorna commented, “Maybe I’m a bit biased but I think he can be redeemed because it’s Max and people have done worse in EastEnders.”

However, Lorna changed her tune when asked if she believed Abi could ever forgive him were she to discover he was responsible for Steven Beale’s death.

“If she found that out, that would be it for her and Max!”

To add to the Christmas drama, it was recently confirmed that both Fitzgerald and Jacqueline Jossa, who play the Branning sisters, will be leaving the programme.

Lorna’s comments on the Christmas episodes hint at a shocking exit for sisters Abi and Lauren.

She said to Metro.co.uk: “I think it will be good and it will be explosive. The last one was the DVD and yeah, I reckon it could top that!”

While storyline details are being kept completely under wraps, Lorna expressed that she was glad she wouldn’t be going alone.

“It’s nice as actresses that Jacqueline and I are leaving together as you have someone to talk about it with and share the burden.”

EastEnders fan will remember the Brannings arrival to the square more than a decade ago.

Lorna shared, “I’ve been here since I was 10 so I am just going along with it, really. I’ve been here for a fantastic 11 years, so I’m just looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”

The 21-year-old actress revealed to metro.co.uk that she is excited about taking her career in a different direction following her departure:

“I’d like to do a bit of theatre – something completely different. I know it sounds really crazy but The Exorcist is showing in the West End for Halloween. Imagine playing that?

“It would just be so weird and completely different. No-one could compare it to Abi – well, I hope not! Perhaps I should be playing Mary Poppins instead…”
