Hollyoaks star is the latest celebrity to sign up for the new Dancing On Ice

Three stars from the Channel 4 soap were vying for a spot in the new series, but this actress has landed the gig

Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Waring is the latest celebrity to sign up for the new series of Dancing On Ice.

Steph has played bad girl Cindy Cunningham in the Channel 4 soap on and off since 1996.

But now she’ll be swapping the Chester set for the ice rink, as she joins the revamped show, starting in January.

The Sun Online announced the news, after previously reporting last month that Steph was in competition with two of her gorgeous Hollyoaks co-stars – Sarah Jayne Dunn and Anna Passey – to win a place.

“Dancing On Ice bosses have reached out to nearly 50 celebrities in total about taking part in the new series,” a source told The Sun at the time.

“There’s a big pool of talent, but only those who can prove they have the ability to actually tackle some of the harder moves and the training will make it in.

“They really want a glamorous soap star in the show, and three of the Hollyoaks girls are in with a shout but only one of them is going to make it.”

So congratulations to Steph, who at 39 might be the oldest of the trio but clearly has the best moves.

She was out celebrating last night at the Hollyoaks Hollowe’en party, where she dressed as Poison Ivy.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby will once again be returning to host the skating show, due to start after the new year.

And Olympic skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will also return, although this time as judges.

Of course there will still need to be a bad guy on the panel, so it’s good news that Jason Gardiner will be back, as he confirmed when he appeared on Lorraine this week.

Other contestants lined up to take to the ice alongside Stephanie will be Team GB athlete Perri Shakes-Drayton, whose sprinting skills will definitely help her speed round the rink.

And the men signed up so far include X Factor and I’m A Celebrity contest Jake Quickenden and Love Island’s Kem Cetinay.
