Stacey Solomon gives a very honest account of ‘horrific’ childbirth

Hold onto your gussets ladies!

Whilst most women describe their children’s birth as the best day of their life, Loose Women presenter Stacey Solomon doesn’t quite agree.

Recalling the day her first son Zachary was born in 2008, the 28 year old has been revealing just how she felt on what should have been a happy day.

Talking to Fabulous, Stacey described her birthing experience as horrific following an eye-watering 72 hour labour.

72 hours!

She said: “I don’t want to scare anyone about to give birth, this was just my experience and lots of women have completely different experiences, but I had never encountered pain like that of a contraction.”

The TV star was only 17 when she discovered she was pregnant, and even though she had asked people around her about giving birth, she reckons it wasn’t anything like the way others described it.

Once in hospital, she was prepped for theatre and given an epidural, but was turned away when two emergency Caesareans were given priority.

Stacey said: “First they cut me and they were about to use a giant pair of what I can only describe as BBQ tongs (forceps) before my mum – who had stepped in to be my birthing partner – put her foot down and said ‘Don’t use those!’”

Baby Zachary had to be physically pulled out of his mum and was placed straight on her chest.

She said: “This tiny wrinkled alien-looking thing (was) plonked straight on my boobs (without even asking) staring at me as I lay sweaty plus covered in sick and things I didn’t even know existed in my body.”

Luckily the traumatic nature of Zac’s birth didn’t put her off having another baby four years later when second son Leighton was born.

Fast forward ten years and her son has hit double figures, and it seems that it still brings its tears, but for different reasons.

Stacey revealed on Instagram: “I have to say it’s a totally different experience for everyone and I did it again after this and had an incredible experience, no two births are the same!”

“However when I was pregnant for the first time I felt like there was a secret code amongst all of the women I asked about what childbirth was like and no one wanted to scare me, so I went into labour without a bloomin clue…”

Do you think Stacey’s recollection of child birth would have put you off having children after reading it?
