Stacey Solomon has revealed that she won’t be taking a long period of maternity leave because she can never be sure where her next job will come from.
During an interview on Lorraine, Stacey opened up about her plans once her first child with boyfriend Joe Swash arrived.
The mum-of-two wants to take some time out but she said it won’t be for too long because the nature of her TV work means she is self-employed.
She also insisted she would be working close up to her due date, although that was somewhat scuppered by her tot arriving early.
The 29-year-old told host Lorraine Kelly in March: “I will give myself a couple of weeks to adjust before the due date.
“But you know I enjoy my work so much and that will keep me occupied, it gets to that point in pregnancy that you think ‘Oh my god is it ever going to end?’ Work can help with that.”
The Loose Women panellist added that the different TV gigs she gets make it harder for her to plan ahead.
She added: “People keep saying I can’t take maternity leave but of obviously I can, but we are all self employed so it is different, we could not be working for the next six months.
“I’m not planning on having loads of maternity but I’m not planning on having none.”
Stacey and Joe welcomed a little boy on Thursday morning. He broke the joyful news to fans on Instagram.
“This morning. A lot earlier than planned I watched the love of my life, bring a new life into the world [sic].
“We are overwhelmed, overjoyed and apprehensive of what’s to come.
“Mummy and baby are well and resting. We are so grateful for all of the love, support and positivity we’ve received over the last 8 months.
“I’m lost for words to describe how I’m feeling.
“So for now, I’m going to spend the next few days and the rest of my life falling more in love with these two humans.
“I didn’t think it possible but, today I witnessed the impossible. My partner, my love, my life, you are a super human. I am forever in awe. Joe X”
