Adam Barlow is to suffer a horrifying overdose ordeal in Coronation Street.
The scheming lawyer – who is played by actor Sam Robertson in the ITV soap – will take drastic action when he learns of the truth about his mother’s death.
Viewers know that his mother Susan Barlow was killed in a car crash in 2001 – one Adam survived.
Since then it has emerged that the cause of the accident was a gang robbery gone wrong and the getaway car fled after causing Susan’s car to crash.
One of the men involved in the robbery was thug-turned-vicar turned Billy Mayhew.
Though Billy had no idea anyone had died in the crash until a series of unfortunate events saw his DNA appear on the police database.
Corrie fans have watched Billy struggle with the news that he was partly responsible for Susan’s death, and soon he will make a deathbed confession to Susan’s twin Peter.
And while Peter’s response is to try to kill Billy, Adam has a more devastating reaction.
Adam will hit rock bottom when Peter tells him the truth about Susan’s death.
And when he realises his business partner Todd knew about Billy’s guilt, he takes an overdose of whiskey and painkillers to try to forget.
Falling unconscious, Adam’s actions put his life in serious danger.
Fortunately his uncle Daniel Osbourne finds him unconscious but will he find him in time?
Or will Peter have another reason to take revenge on Billy in the thrilling Christmas storyline?
