Coronation Street SPOILER: Heartbreak for Sophie Webster as she’s blamed for Aidan’s death

Johnny lashes out...

The devastating aftermath of Aidan Connor’s suicide will result in upsetting scenes for Sophie Webster.

In a tragic twist following on from the factory boss taking his own life, Sophie will find herself being blamed for his death.

And it’s heartbreaking to watch.

In scenes due to air next week, Johnny takes aim at the young girl, blaming Sophie for Aidan’s death.

Inconsolable with grief at having lost his son, he can’t bear the thought that Aidan was struggling with depression and that no one picked up on the signs.

Desperate to discover some kind of motive, he lashes out when he discovers that Sophie received a text from Aidan which she didn’t reply to.

The message simply asked her whether she’d be at the pub.

Beside himself, Johnny accuses Sophie of being responsible for him killing himself.

As Sophie is left in bits, Jenny is forced to step in and remind her husband that Sophie isn’t to blame.

Sadly, Jenny’s words only anger Johnny further and he takes out his emotions on her instead.

The ITV soap aired Aidan’s final scenes on Monday (7 May) and his family will discover he has taken his own life in an hour-long episode tonight (Wednesday 9 May).

The storyline aims to tackle the taboo surrounding male suicide, which remains the most common cause of death for men aged 20 – 49 in the UK.
