Actor Tobey Maguire and wife Jennifer Meyer are calling time on their marriage after nine years.
The couple, who got married in 2007, have two children together Ruby, nine, and Otis, seven.
They announced the separation was a joint decision and that they both remained committed to raising their two kids.
“After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple,” they said in a statement to People magazine.
“As devoted parents, our first priority remains raising our children together with enduring love, respect and friendship.”
Meyer’s Twitter and Instagram has hinted at trouble over the past few week.
On Monday she Tweeted the words: “Monday morning blues” along with a picture of a blue heart ring.
And last week she posted a Lucille Ball quote on Instagram which read: “It’s a helluva start being able to recognize what makes you happy.”
The Spiderman star first met jewelry designer Meyer in 2003 and they married four years later in Hawaii.
When the couple tied the not, Meyer told how she was “walking on air” and having the “best time of her life”.
Maguire also spoke out about wanting to have “security” in his life after suffering a troubled childhood.
He said at the time: “Growing up the way I did, I had a very serious ambition to make some money, to have some security and comfort in my life.”
