Ryan confirmed he was swapping Coronation Street for Ramsay Street last year, following weeks of speculation that he’d landed a guest role on the popular daytime soap.

His character Rafael heads to Erinsborough with some dark secrets and a difficult chapter in his past. He’s also something of a loner and is in Ramsay Street to confront one of his demons.

Blimey, he sounds a world away from chirpy chappy Jason Grimshaw!

Channel 5’s trailer shows Rafael arriving in Ramsay Street, breathing heavily after running. But is he running to something or away from it? Hmmm.

He’s also looking pretty emotional in the clip.

The action immediately cuts to a shot of Paul Robinson looking extremely villainous, and then his daughter Amy, ominously saying: “We need to teach him a lesson.”

Not our Ryan!

When it was confirmed that Ryan would be joining the cast of Neighbours late last year, he said: “I grew up watching Neighbours so to get the chance to join the cast is amazing.

I was on holiday with my daughter when I got a phone call from my agent asking if I’d like to play this part… I spoke to the producer and found out more.

“It was very different from anything I’d played before – it was quite a deep, dark story that really interested me. It’s a new challenge and I can’t wait to start filming.”
