Sir Rod Stewart reveals secret three-year battle with prostate cancer

Diagnosed in February 2016

He was recently picture smiling with wife Penny Lancaster and three of his exes, but behind his smile singer Sir Rod Stewart was hiding a secret three-year cancer battle.

The Do You Think I’m Sexy? hitmaker has revealed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in February 2016 during routine check up.

Rod was speaking at a charity event alongside his former Faces bandmates Ronnie Wood – who has battled lung cancer – and Kenney Jones.

He was also supported by his wife, one-time Loose Women star Penny.

According to The Mirror, Rod said the event was a good time to “come out of the closet”.

He said: “No, it’s not what you think. Two years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer.”

He added of the diagnosis: “No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody. I’m in the clear now, simply because I caught it early. I have so many tests.”

Making a crude joke, Rod then urged the men in the audience to get themselves checked out.

He said: “If you’re positive, and you work through it and you keep a smile on your face… I’ve worked for two years and I’ve just been happy, and the good Lord looked after me.”
