Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson jokes Steve McDonald’s relationship with Tracy Barlow will kill him off

The reunited duo might not get a happy ending

Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has joked Steve McDonald’s reunion with Tracy Barlow means he’ll be killed off.

Cobbles murderess Tracy – played by actress Kate Ford in the ITV soap – will soon seduce ex boyfriend Steve when they both get drunk over Christmas.

But when the pair’s drunken fling turns into something more serious, it suddenly becomes awkward when it becomes clear Steve still has feelings towards ex Michelle Connor.

“That’s what we’re playing at the moment,” the actor told DigitalSpy.

“They go out for a meal at the bistro and Steve spends most of his time looking at Michelle, which doesn’t really go down too well.”

However, fans shouldn’t spend too much time invested in the pairing as Simon can’t see them lasting – one way or another.

He said: “Maybe he could mellow her. Doubtful. Nah, I can’t see it lasting!

“Maybe I should ring my agent after this – maybe putting Steve with Tracy could be the end of him!”

Speaking to The Sun Online, Corrie boss Kate Oates revealed the pair’s daughter isn’t going to be thrilled by the reunion.

She said: “I think she’s just worried that it will end in tears.

“Because she knows that they’re both walking car crashes and everything’s kinda alright and they kinda get on, and I think she’s really afraid of them getting together and then it all imploding so she’s not very happy to start with.”
