Simon Cowell feared he’d broken his neck following fall at his London home

It was a nasty incident

| Updated:

Simon Cowell was forced to miss the first X Factor live show of the series after falling down the stairs at his London home.

And now the music mogul has spoken out on the scary incident, admitting he initially feared he’d broken his NECK in the tumble.

Ouch.

Speaking to The Sun, Simon, 58, said: “I was lying on my back thinking, ‘I hope I haven’t broken my neck’.

“But the NHS staff were the most amazing people I’ve ever met, genuinely.

“Fortunately it was all fine.”

Simon was put in a neck brace and taken to hospital in an ambulance at the end of October after slipping down the stairs as he headed to the kitchen to make a drink.

He later said medics believe that he fainted because of low blood pressure – and the scary incident had reminded him what was important in life.

“Sometimes we get a reminder that we’re not invincible and this was certainly mine,” he told The Sun.

“It was a huge shock.”

Simon added: “I have got to really take good care of myself to sort that out. After all I am a dad and have more responsibility than ever.”

The star said he hasn’t told three-year-old Eric about his fall, explaining: “He probably would have told me off, and I didn’t want to worry him.”

Very wise.

Meanwhile, Simon’s brother Tony has described the fall as a “wake-up call” for the music mogul, urging him to slow down.

He wrote in his Best magazine column: “Basically, he’s a workaholic. I know he won’t stop, but he can slow down. He has to for the sake of his son, Eric.

“I think it’s come as a shock to Simon. As he himself admits, it’s been a wake-up call.

“He needs to look at his life, his workload, and try putting family above work.”

Simon and socialite girlfriend Lauren Silverman welcomed their first child together on Valentine’s Day 2014.

He recently told The Mirror: “[Fatherhood] is amazing. He is absolutely incredible and so funny. It’s the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Aww!
