A statement on their website reads: “Chas recently underwent hospital tests which revealed cancer of the oesophagus.

“Luckily this has been spotted at an early stage and he’ll be undergoing treatment immediately.

“Chas expects to be back out on the road with Dave again soon but, in the meantime, the Potters Bar, Norwich, and Milton Keynes dates on the 17th, 18th, and 19th of February will need to be rescheduled.

“Apologies to ticket-holders for the inconvenience. The venues themselves will advise regarding re-scheduling/refunds etc.”

The famous performers are known for their musical style labelled as “rockney”.

Their first hit Gertcha, released in 1979, went to Number 20 in the charts.

They also got given their very own variety show called Chas & Dave’s Knees Up on ITV.

Chas & Dave were most well-known for hits such as Rabbit, Ain’t No Pleasing You and Snooker Loopy.

The best friends split up in 2009 after a whopping 40 years performing together, but reunited in 2013 after Dave battled the grief of losing his wife of 36 years.

He said at the time: “I had to have a year off when I lost my wife Sue. I needed to get my thoughts together. But after a year I couldn’t stay away.

“We both like playing too much to retire. Now we know it’ll never happen. We’ve been gigging all our lives. This means so much to us.”

We hope that Chas makes a speedy recovery!
