Sheridan Smith posts very cryptic message about Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice

And it's got fans all hot under the collar...

Over the past few weeks, all eyes have been on Debbie McGee as she’s turned in some fantastic performances to become one of this year’s Strictly favourites.

Well, we say ALL eyes – it turns out some people are rather interested in Debbie’s professional dance partner, Giovanni Pernice.

The Italian star, 27, is the subject of a new Instagram post shared by none other than actress Sheridan Smith.

And while it’s unclear exactly what the 36-year-old means by it, she certainly seems to have taken a shine to the Strictly heartthrob.

Alongside a picture of the Sicily-born dancer, she’s written: “When you can’t have what you want. Fit! Onwards and upwards.”

And Sheridan’s followers were soon filling her inbox with queries about what she meant by the tribute.

One asked: “You wanted something you can’t have? Or you’ve been there?”

Another seemed equally confused, adding: “What have I missed?”

And a third fan enthused: “You realise this will be front page of the Daily Mail??!”

Sheridan – who’s probably best known for her role in BBC sitcom Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps – performed a song on Strictly last month.

Afterwards, she posted a picture to Instagram in which she’s seen standing between Giovanni and Strictly choreographer Luba Mushtuk.

Well, if she does have designs on the Italian hunk, she might find herself coming between the two dancers in a different sense.

The Sun claimed this week that Giovanni and Luba have been secretly dating for years, and a ‘source’ even went so far as to say that Luba “doesn’t like” Debbie McGee.

Debbie, 59, and Giovanni appeared on today’s This Morning, where they addressed persistent rumours that they’re more than just dance partners.

Asked why she’d been seen without her wedding ring in rehearsals, the blonde star – who was married to the late Paul Daniels – replied: “I’ve never really worn jewellery to rehearsals, especially doing these rehearsals.”

Giovanni then showed Holly Willoughby some of his dance moves, leading the presenter to swoon that she was “going to fall in love” with him by the end of the show.

And judging by Sheridan’s post, Holly isn’t the only one who’s taken by Gio’s charms…
