Sheridan Smith reveals details of fiancé’s proposal for first time

She reveals how her fairytale ending came to be

Actress Sheridan Smith has revealed how her fiancé Jamie Horn popped the question after a whirlwind romance.

The star got engaged to 28-year-old Jamie in May, following three months of dating after they met on Tinder. But she hasn’t spoken on the details until now…

In her new one-off show for ITV, Sheridan Smith: Coming Home, the 37-year-old has shared details of how the “love of my life” asked her to be his wife.

Talking in her new documentary, she returns to the Yorkshire hotel room where the insurance broker proposed with their dog Dumbo.

She reveals: “It was on that bed. I’d just come out the shower and you laid where Dumbo is sat. I came out the shower and you went . . . ”

Jamie then adds: “‘You going to marry me or what?’ I pulled it out the bag, I thought it’s a big day. It felt natural, it was effortless, that’s how I felt about it. You probably thought ‘lazy (bleep)’.”

The Cilla star’s new man had apparently already asked her mum Marilyn for permission to marry her.

She also says on the ITV show: “I think I’m the happiest I’ve been right now. Eating a sausage, chips and gravy with the love of my life and my new puppy.”

Sheridan credits Jamie for getting her back on track after a difficult couple of years.

She admits she had a “massive meltdown” following her beloved father Colin’s illness and death in 2016. But now she says she is “out of the other side.”

In her hour-long show, which airs this Sunday on ITV, Sheridan reflects that she was finding it hard to cope with what was going on in her personal life.

“I kind of lost it a bit after [my dad] died. I’ve come out the other side now and I need to get it all out through my music. Especially in the public, it looks like I’ve moaned about everything with my Dad dying but that’s not the case, I just had a massive meltdown,” she says.

She first sparked concerns after her father’s cancer diagnosis, when she began to turn up late to rehearsals for her stage show Funny Girl. One night, finding it too hard to cope, she walked off stage. She then quit The Savoy Theatre show.

Her happy ending with Jamie also comes after a string of heartbreak with other men. In the last couple of years she has dated Hollyoaks actor Greg Wood, her hair stylist Graham Nation and WWE wrestler Stuart Tomlinson.
