Sheridan Smith hits back after claims she was ‘axed’ from musical for ‘lashing out’ at kids

She's been putting the record straight on Twitter

Sheridan Smith has taken to social media to strongly refute rumours that she has been ‘axed’ from Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Reports claimed that Gavin and Stacey star Sheridan, 38, had been fired from the show because she ‘lashed out at some of the young cast’ during an after-show party.

The Sun claimed that Sheridan – who starred as the narrator alongside Jason Donovan in the play during its run at the London Palladium – ‘shouted’ at a section of the cast aged between 11 and 13 before being allegedly being led away by her partner and company manager.

An insider was quoted as saying: “Sheridan cares deeply about her performances and at times we saw her become very emotional behind the scenes.

“Starring in a West End show can be very intense and while she never put a foot wrong on stage, away from it she could often be quite up and down. After the final show, bosses held a party in the theatre’s VIP bar and Sheridan was there with her fiancé Jamie Horn.

“They were chilling out, while a group of the younger cast were messing around nearby. Suddenly Sheridan turned around and very rudely told them to go away.”

However, in a strongly-worded response on Twitter, Sheridan said that she tries “not to rise the tabloid [bleep]” and that the story was “completely untrue”.

She went on to say: “The kids in the show were the only reason I stayed the whole run.

“I love every single one of them and the kids and their parents became family.”

She also added that she “never went to a single party as I am in recovery.”

ED has contacted a rep for Sheridan for further comment.

Recently Sheridan shared a throwback snap with her Instagram followers showing how she’s shed two stone in recent months.

It is believed the Gavin and Stacey star has lost weight thanks to performing in the hit musical Joseph on the West End stage.

Sheridan, 38, played the narrator alongside Jason Donovan’s Pharoah in the show, with the high-energy song and dance routines leading to her slimming down.
