Shane Richie reveals big baby news

This is such wonderful news for the couple and their family

| Updated:

Shane Richie says he will be having another child with wife Christie Goddard, as the couple reveal plans to adopt a baby.

They already have three children together, while former EastEnders actor Shane has two sons with his ex-wife, Coleen Nolan.

However, Shane has revealed that Christie is keen to adopt another – despite the dad-of-five’s fairly extensive experience with children already.

“All I’ve known is sleepless nights and nappies, but we are talking about adopting. Christie wants to. She’s a great mum,” he told The Mirror.

“We could have more children of our own, but I think because of that it’s like, ‘why don’t we adopt?’. We may foster, but because our children are six, nine and 11 we might get a baby.”

The pair’s marriage has not been without its problems. Back in 2011, Alison Hall – a fan of the EastEnders star – told the press that her and Shane had had a six-year affair.

At the time, Shane’s agent said the couple “have been aware of these allegations for some time and remain fully united to each other and their family.”

Shane is currently relaunching his country music singing career, after leaving his role of Alfie Moon on EastEnders.

His new album Country Soul features a song titled Shut Up (All I Want Is You), which is devoted to his wife Christie, as he told List.

The actor-turned-musician recently revealed that he had been offered a record deal with Simon Cowell during his time on the soap, following the success of his Children In Need single I’m Your Man, but had to turn it down because his contract didn’t allow it.

“Off the strength of the single, I was offered a deal by Simon, but my contract was with EastEnders, and I was happy to carry on playing Alfie,” he told The Sun.

As Shane’s singing career takes off, we wish the couple the best of luck in their new adoption journey.
