Shamed MP set to appear in Celebrity Big Brother…

It's that point in summer when names are flying back and forth as often as Easyjet on the route to Malaga

| Updated:

If there’s one thing you can guarantee from a British summer – apart from, you know, about three days of sun that we’ll all complain is too hot, and that we will eat a lot of mini Magnums – it’s a steady stream of speculation about who’s going to head into the Celebrity Big Brother house.

And this week sees another name added to the list, with shamed MP Simon Danzcuk touted as a potential housemate.

Danczuk, 50, is the former Labour MP for Rochdale who is best known for writing a book about former MP Cyril Smith and historical allegations of child sex abuse.

Oh no, wait. While he did do that, he’s actually best known for texting a 17-year-old girl, despite being a middle-aged dad of four, back in 2015. He was subsequently suspended from the Labour party.

You also might know the name Danzcuk because Simon’s former wife Karen was known for transitioning from local counsellor to a TV personality and professional selfie-taker.

If the rumours are true, Danczuk will join two names that are already confirmed for the show, including Helen Lederer of Absolutely Fabulous-fame. The Sun reported that she will join the line-up for £300,000.

The other name that seems a definite is Sandi Bogle, who used to appear on Googlebox with her best friend Sandra Martin.

Many others rumours have been doing the rounds as possibilities, with Sinitta, Max George-who-used-to-be-in-The-Wanted-and-went-out-with-Michelle-Keegan, plus Charlotte Crosby and boyfriend Stephen Bear mentioned a lot.

The show will start on Channel 5 after the current non-celeb series ends in July.

Not that that show hasn’t had a dollop of celeb-ness of its own, with former housemates like Gemma Collins, Nicola McLean and Marnie Simpson heading into the house for tasks.

It’s been speculated that this summer on Celeb BB will be named ‘Summer Of Legends’ and also that the show will capitalise on the success of programmes like Ex On The Beach and bring in former love interests of the housemates’.

Karen – stand by your phone, love. The entrance to the CBB house will make one cracking selfie.
