With the new 10th series of Great British Bake Off starting this week, it can only mean one thing: the start of Channel 4’s hilarious companion show, Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice.

But the show was hit by controversy after cruel internet trolls fat-shamed star guest, Scarlett Moffatt during its first episode.

The show, hosted by Jo Brand and Tim Allen, the rib-tickling look back at the week’s episode of GBBO welcomed in comedian Frank Skinner, actor Stephen Mangan and Scarlett to discuss what had happened.

Googlebox and I’m A Celeb star Scarlett, 29, looked gorgeous in a red dress with white flowers, and she told the studio audience how she had loved and grown up with the show.

But that didn’t stop vile internet trolls posting offensive fat-shaming messages on social media.

“She’s a big whopper meal,” one troll Tweeted.

“My word Scarlett’s ate some cakes!” another jabbed.

“Jo, ‘Do you like cake Scarlett? Er what do you think?’ #whoateallthepies,” another cruel keyboard warrior said.

But Scarlett’s fans hit back with plenty of messages of support.

“Ignore the haters Scarlett. Just remember if they are talking about you then you have their attention and jealousy is so much fun to watch since they have no clue we all feel sorry for them,” one said.

Another wrote: “Ignore the haters my love. You are beautiful.”

Finally, one said: The comments made about @ScarlettMoffatt are disgraceful!! We aren’t all size 0, we like to eat and drink (they don’t in the most) – these disgraceful comments HAVE TO STOP!! Scarlett….you’re beautiful, funny and intelligent – don’t go changing!!! X.”

Scarlett herself ignored the haters posting a message on her Instagram Stories reading: “Thanks for all your lovely comments about GBBO: An Extra Slice.”
