Saturday Night Takeaway viewers reckon they’ve solved show mystery

Fans of the show think they've worked out who stole the crown jewels

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway viewers reckon the show has accidentally revealed the mystery villain in new sketch The Missing Crown Jewels.

The skit sees the Geordie duo investigate the theft of the jewels but, after just two episodes, fans think they have already figured out the culprit.

The mini detective show was set to “grip the nation” all series, but on Saturday the villain – wearing a mask as well as the crown – spoke.

Even with a vocal disguise, some viewers believe the identity was obvious…

Speaking via video link, the villain said: “People of Britain, feast your eyes on my crown jewels.

“And as it is written in the Magna Carta which is the basis for all UK law, whoever sits on the throne at Buckingham palace wearing the crown jewels immediately becomes the reigning monarch.

“Once I’m on that throne, it will be all hail me – your new king… or queen… I could be a queen.”

Non-plussed viewers took to Twitter to discuss their theories.

One wrote: “@itvtakeaway @antanddec it’s so @davidwalliams you could tell from his voice and eyes!!!!”

Another added: “#WhoIsMarkface it’s 100% David Walliams. Who’s with me?? #SaturdayNightTakeaway #antanddec.”

A third said: “@itvtakeaway @ITV It’s David Walliams ain’t it, you can’t not recognise that voice.”

An annoyed viewer wrote: “@itvtakeaway It’s quite clearly @davidwalliams. Whole story ruined, too easy! @antanddec.”

While Takeaway is easily the best light entertainment show on the box, there have been a few hiccups since its return.

During the first live episode, hosts Ant and Dec were forced to apologise after a viewer swore when she found out she had won a holiday.

It’s safe to say she was most definitely surprised!

The comedy duo were revealing who had been given tickets for a free trip to Disney World, and the show flicked between people in the studio audience and fans watching at home.

But as the shot switched to the young woman’s home, she was seen mouthing a naughty word after realising she’d won.

Despite the Geordie presenters quickly apologising for the outburst, viewers from home were more than amused at the blunder.

One wrote: “#SaturdayNightTakeaway @antanddec please take me to Florida with my family. What a great show love the woman who swore.”

Another added: “Omg @antanddec creasing at that woman! She was shocked! Haha I promise not to swear if you pick me to come to Disney! #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”
